Walmart WFS big & bulky fees, and what a return really costs

WFS prices big & bulky fulfilment at $155.00 per unit plus $0.80 per pound over 90 lb, for items up to 500 lb. Read from Walmart's own schedule, 2026-08-04.

The return is priced on the same formula as the outbound

Walmart's return processing schedule mirrors the big & bulky fulfilment fee exactly — both rows carry the identical published amount, 155 + 0.80/lb over 90lb. So a unit that ships and comes back does not cost its fulfilment fee plus a modest handling charge. It costs that fee roughly twice.

On a 120 lb item that is $179.00 out and $179.00 back: $358.00 on a single returned unit, before the item's own cost. At a 2% return rate on big & bulky, that is $7.16 of return cost carried by every unit sold.

The 2% is an illustrative rate, not a benchmark — put your own in. Everything else on this line is published.

Across the published range

Weight Fulfilment If it is returned Both
90 lb $155.00 $155.00 $310.00
120 lb $179.00 $179.00 $358.00
200 lb $243.00 $243.00 $486.00
350 lb $363.00 $363.00 $726.00
500 lb $483.00 $483.00 $966.00

The formula is published; applying it at each weight is our arithmetic. For comparison, the standard (non big & bulky) schedule prices a 90 lb item at $33.15 — but our rows do not record the dimensional thresholds Walmart uses to decide which schedule an item falls under, so treat that as context and not as a switch you can choose.

Does your item even count as big & bulky?

This is usually the real question, and Walmart does publish the rule. An item is standard — small parcel, the other schedule — when it meets all three of these, packaging included:

  • unit weight 150 lb or less
  • longest side 108 inches or less
  • longest side + girth 165 inches or less, where girth is 2 × (width + height)

Exceed any one of them and the item is big & bulky, and ships by freight on the schedule above. Note the trap in that sentence: it is any one, not all three, so a light item can be big & bulky on length alone. Read from Walmart's own WFS fees guide on 2026-09-21.

Below that boundary, two oversize surcharges attach to the standard schedule rather than this one: Oversize 1 at $3.00 per unit and Oversize 2 at $20.00 per unit. Walmart also states that the standard add-ons — apparel, hazmat, low retail price and oversize — do not apply to big & bulky items.

Removal is priced separately again, at $0.40 per pound for the return-to-seller shipping component. At 120 lb that is $48.00 to get one unit back out of the network.

Working out whether WFS is cheaper than a 3PL?

That is a harder sum than this page, because a 3PL quote and a WFS schedule are not written in the same units: one prices per order, the other per unit by weight tier, and only one of them usually includes the label. Two ways we can help, and the first is free.

Holding a 3PL quote already? Send it to the free gap check and we will tell you, within two business days, every fee line it leaves out and the exact question to put to that vendor. No call, no obligation, nothing charged.

Want to run the comparison yourself? The Quote Normalizer Kit ($99) takes your order profile plus up to five rate cards and returns one all-in cost per order for each. Its worked example already includes Walmart WFS, priced against three 3PLs on the same 2,000-order month.

When Walmart changes these fees

Walmart revises the WFS schedule without announcing it, and this page is only as current as the date on each row. Leave an address and you get an email when a WFS fee we track changes - nothing else, and nothing on a schedule. To come off, email data@ratecardlab.com and we delete the record.
